The world of media thrives on expert voices. They add depth, credibility, and diverse perspectives to stories, ultimately enriching the information consumed by the public. While it’s true affiliate content is king these days, there will always be a place and a need for expert commentary. In fact, many of the top brands creating affiliate content require expert commentary to be part of the equation. (Psst: This is because of SEO and commonly-searched keywords needed to improve rankings!)

Apart from long-winded, first-person narratives, expert-driven articles are my favorite. I became a journalist because I’m forever curious, and interviewing experts is a way to build my knowledge base continuously. Because I’ve written thousands of articles featuring experts, I’ve seen the good, the bad—and everything in between.

If you represent an expert continuously not included in the final edit, here are some best practices/tips/advice to help improve placements.
